Random Bloggings
Although I detest Hallmark Holidays... I guess I'll accept this one. Yep, color me hypocritical. I'm not just digging for compliments from the general public. Actually I personally wanted to say 'Thank You' to all the other people out there that wear a badge. One of the best things about working in law enforcement is knowing that there is always someone around the corner who will come running without asking 'why?' and that person will fight with me, and for me, until death if needed.
Yeah, a lot of times we're a great big dysfunctional family... but hey, it's our family!

The good news is that, as far as I know, I have yet to be featured on a YouTube video. The bad news is, I got caught ranting and raving about our administration on a department video. My OWN camera as a matter of fact! Sort of funny really. My regular squad went down for the night so I jumped into another one. Seems like the camera g-shock sensor was overly sensitive so it started recording after hitting a pothole or something. Ahhhhh... the hazards of talking to your self during the midnight hours. In the good old days I would have just thrown a speaker magnet in the trunk and taken out the VHS recording. Today in 2012 the digital video is magically beamed to our PD servers. Guess I'll have to sweat out the week and see if the video is 'randomly screened for quality control.'

"LOOK! A DISTRACTION!!!" Yeah, we can see the 'no-raise' thing on the horizon. What adds insult to injury is that we're getting a bunch of cute little toys around the PD. I know that there are laws and standards regarding what money can be used for what in a public government entity, but that doesn't help pay the bills at the end of the day.

Anyone want to help me break the '51 subscriber' plateau? Blogger has newer features and I KNOW that more than 51 people are checking out the blog posts through e-mail subscriptions, facebook, etc. But I've been looking at 51 subscribers now for about 6 months while my blogging buddies are racking up 1000+ regular readers. If you have any suggestions for growing my audience, I'd welcome any input.

'Tales from a Daylight Dog'??? Nah, it doesn't have the same ring to it. But for the first time in my career I'm seriously contemplating moving to day shift for 2013. We bid on shifts annually depending on seniority and I could have gone to days five years ago. But, I've always liked the midnight shift mentality. We're behind the 8 ball from the get-go, there's no bosses micromanaging every step we make and most of the public is home in bed so we have the wide open streets to ourselves. The one thing makes this move a little more palpable is that we've had a lot of turnover in the last couple of years and now our dayshift guys aren't the dead weight gang that they were a few years ago. As a matter of fact, four of the guys and a sergeant were GYD's not too long ago and I am the sole holdout of the old guard in the darkness.
Do I keep my title as 'King of the Graveyard Dogs' or move on to 'brighter' pastures???
More importantly, can my body actually sleep at night time??? Mmmmmmmm... sleep at night, what a novel concept!
